Emily Clarke and her team of volunteers have been providing ‘pay what you can’, delicious meals every Friday at the Landport Community Café. She’s just received some fantastic news.
“I’m delighted to say that Landport Community Cafe is now part of the Neighbourly scheme and we will be collecting surplus food from Aldi in Lewes every week in our mission to build community and address food poverty and food waste. This will include fresh fruit and veg, ‘ambient’ food (tins etc) and baked goods. If we get too much, anything suitable for food banks will be redistributed through #241forfoodbanks to the three food banks in Lewes. Happy days! ”
If you haven’t tried it yet, pop along one Friday and pay what you can. All donations are confidential and if you’re having a tough week the community are happy to share. For further information and weekly menus pop over to their FB page.
