UPDATE: Following the tireless efforts of Lewes Parents and friends, the academisation of Lewes schools has been halted as all schools have now withdrawn from the MAT (Multi Academy Trust) process. Our schools are now committed to fully involving the community in any future investigation of partnership options. In a letter to parents, Chairs and Headteachers said
” As of today, no decisions have been made and it is important that we understand the merits and drawbacks of all the various partnership models so we make an informed decision with full community involvement.” As a community is now important that we keep up the momentum and continue to be fully engaged with the process. Well done Save Lewes Schools and everyone involved in the campaign.
Congratulations to the parents and friends taking part in the Save Lewes Schools campaign to stop the academisation of our schools. Southover CE Primary and Western Road Community School have now withdrawn from the MAT discussions and will stay under local authority control. This is great news for the town’s children, but there is a still a way to go. Lewes Priory, South Malling CE Primary, Wallands Primary and Iford and Kingston primary schools are yet to make their decision. This is a great start though and shows what can be achieved when we pull together as a community. Well done!
There is still time to sign the petition visit to add your voice to the campaign.
